Two extremely cute images of my Mom and Uncle Kevin shoveling snow from the front stoop of my grandparents' apartment on Hoyt Avenue in Staten Island.

birdZ & the beeZ

Other than Friday one of our favorite days here at RIF are Wednesdays. Not only is it the MID-Week and almost FRIDAY... but for some reason this is the day that majority of you GOOD People come through the shop and drop off goodies. We are trully blessed. Thank you ALL.

RIF's favorite couple came down Alex and Johanna. Not only have they supported RIF for years but they are the one of the most kind and un-selfish couples we have ever met. Thanks again guys. Hope you enjoy those Easter's

color.

The clock moved an hour ahead, the sun shining and the ladies of Los Angeles are parading around more scantly clad. This only means one thing...summer but most importantly spring is knocking on the door. Its almost time to put away those heavy parkas, boots, knit caps and make way for shorts, RIF Tee's and fresh sneakers. Though winter never really made a large impact with our daily lives/regiment here in southern California, its always nice to see the tree's blooming, sun shining and vividly colored sneakers releasing.

Looking closely at most of the sneakers worn by us here at RIF we all have one thing similar...we all wear dark, mostly black based sneakers. We thought it would be nice to change it up a bit and add color to our sneaker arsenals.

Here are a few notables that will be releasing from a variety of sneaker brands that just might make it into our weekly sneaker rotations...that's if we can sway away from our black and white chucks for the summer. Enjoy.

Hiroki has definately turned another classic silloute into a Visvim-eqes classic. With the use of aged seldvege denim and exported dyes from around the world. This Visvim Skagway is a definate copp, thats its we can justify its (more than likely) $400.00 price tag. Not many can appreciate the craftsmanship used to create Visvim products those that venture out of their monetary comfort zone can admit, once you go Visvim you never go back.

Parties, Pinafores & Potato Sacks

After a recent look at the DVD I made of the family slides, my Mom was reminiscing about how wonderfully simple yet completely joyful kids' birthday parties were in the 1950s and 60s.  Party favors here included small sombreros and what appear to be yoyos.  The taste of fruit flavored soda against the texture of a paper cup is such a "hyperactive sugar rush at the kids' table" moment.  Here's my Mom at the head of the table, celebrating with my Uncle Kevin (on left, peeking out below) and my cousin Dianne to his left.  My cousin Ricky is seen in the lower left.  Did anyone catch the color of the canary he just swallowed?

My Mom and Uncle Kevin are seen above in their Easter Sunday Best while my Great Grandmother Mae is seen below between my cousins Dianne and Lois.  This slide was unmarked (as were many others) so I'm guessing they're dressed in either confirmation dresses or flower girl gowns for a wedding.

Mom and Aunt Karen look great in their matching sailor suits (which were probably home-sewn from a Simplicity pattern) but why doesn't my Uncle Kevin have one?

And here we move toward Summertime's picnics and games...

What picnic is complete without a toilet paper race?
