An Evening With Muriel

Another completely random flea market find...
A contact sheet of four shots which appear to be stills from the production of a 1970s discotheque-themed commercial for Muriel Cigars.  I'm guessing that "Muriel" was the name of the singer/dancer/model/actress/whatever being featured in the advert as the font in the neon set piece shown here is the same style as the product's packaging at this time.
It is interesting to note that no one is smoking in any of the production stills.  Though the television advertisement of cigarettes was verboten by this time, for some reason, commercials for cigars were deemed broadcast-worthy.

Perfecto: Phillies Red Box

I don't exactly recall when, but I do remember getting this beautifully worn Phillies Cigar box for free when I purchased whatever stash of small contents was contained inside.  I'm sure these treasures have long since been built into assemblages, but the box alone is a treasure in and of itself.

Elegance At The Next Table

Two gorgeously illustrated 1950s advertisements for Webster Cigars, which bring the magazine readers over the shoulder views of the backless gowns of the society mavens. On a more voyeuristic note, we observe the gentlemen accompanying them as if from the "next table".
